Statement No. 8
A dog who "piddles" when we approach
him/her is apt to be weak-willed and cowardly.
Nope!
Ding, ding, ding!
"Piddling" when approached by strange people or other dogs is a dog's way of
saying "I am torn between running or staying." It is a release, a sign of
resistance felt within the dog. Even older dogs often "piddle" as a release
from a strong desire to do other than what they are doing. It is usually
noted whenever there is a split or strong indecision—
when the puppy forces himself to do something he is concerned about or does
not want to do. Rather than to avoid these "foreign" things to the puppy or
dog, it is better to take him through them all the more until they become
familiar—
until all signs of resistance (piddling) are gone.
