Statement No. 9
One fairly effective way to train
a dog to obey commands dependably is to reward him with some sort of tidbits
when he does the right thing for us.
You would think so, but not really.
Correct.
Anyone who thinks a tidbit-
or reward-trained dog will obey his owner's commands "dependably" should
witness what happens when this kind of "trained" dog does NOT get his
tidbits, or when he desires something else more than the tidbit. No! This
kind of dog is doing things for the tidbit, not for the owner.
